Medicare Advantage (or Part C) coverage is offered by special arrangement between the Government and private health insurers.  These plans replace your basic Medicare coverage with a policy containing additional benefits at $0 or low premiums.  Signing up for a Medicare Advantage plan means that you will receive your benefits from the private health insurer, not the Government.  An MA-PD (Medicare Advantage-Prescription Drug) plan includes coverage for your medications according to the Government’s Deductible-Initial Coverage-Coverage Gap-Catastrophic Coverage benefits scheme.
